While the Nest Cam and Dropcam Pro stands are interchangeable, there are some key improvents to the Nest Cam stand aside from the slimmer design. They are:

Screw mount: The threaded hole in the stand's neck lets you attach your Nest Cam to any standard 1/4"-20 tripod mount or even a bolt with the same thread size. With this option, you can securely hold your Nest cam on curved surfaces and other odd places where using the flat base isn't possible.

Magnet: The rare-earth magnet in the stand's base gives you even more mounting possibilities on metal surfaces. Its strong grip will easily hold your Nest Cam in any position, even upside down. Now you can mount to almost anything made with steel (shelves, furniture, and even some appliances) without marring the finish or drilling holes.

Cable clip: The built-in cable management lets you easily route Nest Cam's power cord for a clean looking installation.

Can I buy a Nest Cam stand separately?
