Article Summary:
Depending on where you purchased it, your Nest Protect will come with one or more languages installed. These are the languages that Nest Protect speaks during setup, Heads-Up alerts, and Emergency Alarms. With Nest Protect software 2.0, you can easily change the language it speaks in the Nest app.
During setup, you need to choose from one of the pre-installed languages. After you've set up Nest Protect, you can switch to any one of the other languages that Nest Protect offers. For example, if you bought your Nest Protect in the US, you can choose English or Spanish during set up. After setup, you can change the language that Nest Protect speaks to French or Dutch.

How to change the language of the Nest app
If you have an iOS phone or tablet:
Go to Settings> General> International> Language. Then select the language that you'd like.
If you have an Android phone running the standard Android OS:
Go to Settings> Language & input> Language. Then select the language you want to use.
Some Android phones run a modified operating system, so the steps for changing languages may be different. Please check your phone's documentation to learn how to do this if the steps above don't work for you.
