Gems are the most valuable currency in Clash Royale. They can be used to:
Speed up chest opening
Speed up Clan card requests
Buy chests and emotes from the Shop
Purchase missing Gold for card upgrades
Open Banner Boxes
Join challenges
Create tournaments
Buy bonus rewards from global tournaments
Change your name
Reroll the Trader’s options
Here's where you can find Gems:
| Source | Description |
|---|---|
| Shop | You will occasionally see Gems as part of in-app purchase offers. You can also get free Gems from Daily Deals. |
| Trophy Road | Reach a certain number of Trophies and get Gems on Trophy Road. |
| Special events / challenges | Gems are available as rewards from certain challenges and events. You are rewarded with Gems by reaching the required number of wins. |
| Chests | Level Up Chests and Crown Chests may contain Gems. |
| Hoggy Bank | Breaking the Hoggy Bank can reward you with Gems! |
| Clan Gifts | You can send or receive Gems through the Clan Gift bundle in the Shop. |
| Pass Royale | Both free and Diamond Pass Royale tracks may have Gems as a reward. |
| Card Mastery | Some Mastery Tasks will provide Gems as a reward! |
| Magic Items overflow | If you don’t have enough room in your storage for a new Magic Item, you might be offered Gems as a replacement. |
Gold
Gold is used to:
Purchase & upgrade cards
Create Clans
Replace missing cards when donating or trading level 14 / Elite level cards
Purchase certain shop offers
Here's where you can find Gold:

| Shop | Gold may appear as an offer, in the Daily Deals section, or in the Season Shop. You can also exchange Gems for Gold. |
| Trophy Road & other roads | Earn Gold as a reward for your progress on the Trophy Road, Path of Legends, and other time-limited roads. |
| Special events / challenges | Gold is available as a reward from certain challenges and events. Earn it by reaching the required number of wins. |
| Chests | All Chests contain Gold, except for Epic, Legendary, Champion, and Tower Troop Chests. |
| Clan Wars | You will get Gold for every battle you play in Clan Wars, win or lose. When the River Race finishes, you will also receive a River War Chest or another reward! |
| Pass Royale | Earn Gold Crates as rewards for reaching Pass Royale milestones. |
| Donating Cards | Receive Gold, depending on the rarity of the donated card. No Gold is earned for donating max level cards. |
| Victory Gold | Earn Gold for victories in Battle. The amount of Victory Gold depends on your Arena/League, but keep in mind that you can only get it a limited number of times per day! |
| Gold Rush | Gold Rush is a special event where you earn Gold by destroying your opponent's Towers! It's a limited-time event, so keep an eye on the ‘Battle’ button for when it appears. |
| Hoggy Bank | Breaking the Hoggy Bank can reward you with Gold! |
| Clan Gifts | You can send or receive Gold through the Clan Gift bundle in the Shop. |
| Lucky Drops | All Lucky Drops except 5⭐ drops can contain Gold. |
| Card Mastery | Some Mastery Tasks will provide Gold as a reward! |
