Moving your camera to a different spot with the same Wi-Fi network

If you're just moving your camera to another spot in the house — but not connecting it to a new Wi-Fi network — all you need to do is unplug your Nest Cam and move it. After you plug it back in, your camera will automatically reconnect to your Wi-Fi network. You should see a green light on your Nest Cam, which means that it's successfully connected.

Connecting to a new Wi-Fi network

If you just want to connect your Nest Cam to another Wi-Fi network — for example, if you changed your Wi-Fi password or got a new router — you can easily do this in the Nest App. Read the follow article to learn more.

Moving your camera to a new home

If you're moving to a new home and taking your Wi-Fi router with you, all you need do is set everything back up in your new home. Once your Wi-Fi router is connected to the Internet, just plug in your Nest Cam, and it will remember how to connect to your Wi-Fi. You can then change the ZIP or postal code of your home in the Nest App, and you're all set.

If you get a new router when you move — for example, if you change Internet Service Providers — you'll need to update your Nest Cam's settings so that it knows how to connect to your new router.

Taking your Nest Cam out of the country

Nest Cam is optimized to work best with specific regional Wi-Fi standards, depending on where it was sold. This means that your Nest Cam may experience decreased Wi-Fi performance if you move it to a different region. For example, Nest Cams sold in North America are designed to work best in US and Canada while Nest Cams sold in Europe are designed to work best in Europe.
