How do I replace the batteries?
Here are the steps to replace the backup batteries of your Nest Protect (Wired 120V).
- Make sure to use Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA batteries (L91) and install them in the right order.
- If you install them out of order, you may not be able to close the battery compartment.
- Push down the small latch at the bottom of the battery compartment so that you can insert the last battery and properly close the cover.
WARNING:
- Use only batteries specified by Nest. Use of a different battery model will have a detrimental effect on the smoke alarm operation. The alarm may not operate properly with other batteries. Never use rechargeable or alkaline batteries since they may not provide a constant charge.
- The alarm will not operate without backup batteries installed or until they are installed in the correct position (Match “+” to “+” and “-” to “-”).
