If you’re having trouble logging into your Nest Account on the Web or with the Nest app, follow the tips and troubleshooting steps below to fix the problem.

Check the Nest system status

If we’re currently performing maintenance on the Nest services or if there is currently an issue, we’ll tell you about it. Just look for the System Status message near the top of the page at support.nest.com. Click on the history link for more detailed information.

Verify that you’re using the right email address and password

If you’re getting a message that asks you to enter a valid email address and password, double-check your email address and password. Your password is case-sensitive, so make sure you use the same capitalization every time.

Troubleshoot problems with your browser (Web only)

If you know you’re using a compatible browser, and your Nest Account still won’t load, go through the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Quit your browser completely, reopen it and try to log in again.
You can quit your browser from it’s File menu on Windows or from the menu with the browser’s name on a Mac.

  • Clear your browser’s cache.
Clearing your browser’s cache can typically be done in Settings or Preferences, or in some cases directly from one of the browser’s main menus. If you’re not sure how to do this, check the help documentation for your browser.

  • Clear your browser’s cookies.
Clearing your cookies will log you out of any websites you have set to keep you always logged in. Make sure you know your username and password to get back into those websites before you continue with this step. If you’re not sure how to do this, check the help documentation for your browser.

  • Enable JavaScript.
JavaScript is set to enabled by default on most browsers, but if you’ve disabled it, you’ll need to allow it again in order to access your Nest Account on the Web.

  • Remove any IP blocking software.
If you use IP address blocking software, like IP Blocker or PeerBlock, they can prevent your Nest Account from loading. You’ll need to allow nest.com access through your IP blocking software or uninstall it.

Check your router or firewall settings

Both your Nest Thermostat and your Nest Account need access to our servers to work correctly. If you have any port blocking or IP blocking security on your router or firewall, you’ll need to configure it to allow access to nest.com.

The Nest app and website need access to these ports through your firewall.

  • 80 (HTTP)
  • 443 (HTTPS)

If you’re not comfortable changing your router or firewall settings by yourself, please contact your device manufacturer for help. Contact your system administrator to help get access from your work network.
