Article Summary:
There are a few common-sense safety guidelines that you should follow. Keep Nest Cam out of reach of children and pets, only use it indoors and in a well-ventilated area.
We designed Nest Cam to be durable and easy to use, but like most electronics, it may become warm to touch when in use, especially when it's in Night Vision mode.
To avoid risk of overheating and burns:
- Use Nest Cam only indoors. It is not designed for outdoor use.
- Nest Cam is certified to operate between 32-104°F (0-40°C), but you should consider these the outer limits. Keep the ambient temperature reasonably comfortable.
- Keep Nest Cam out of direct sunlight.
- Do not block airflow to your Nest Cam by covering it or trying to hide it in an enclosure such as a box.
To avoid risk of fire and shock:
- Only use the provided USB cable and power adapter.
- Do not get camera, power adapter or USB cable wet.
To avoid risk of other serious injury:
- Cords can be a strangulation hazard. Keep Nest Cam's USB cable out of the reach of children, more than 3 feet (1m) away. Since Nest Cam has a versatile stand and Clear Zoom, you should have no problem setting it far enough from your kids.
- Keep camera and all components out of the reach of children and pets.
- The Nest Cam magnetic wall mount should be installed no more than 2-4m (6.5-13ft) above the floor. If the camera falls, it could potentially cause harm.
