How do I enter an emergency contact?
You can enter the emergency contact from the Nest app or on the Web. Typically you will enter the emergency contact during setup. If you need to change or add an emergency contact, follow these steps.
Important note: You will want to gather the phone number of your emergency contact, be it your local fire department, local police department or someone else, before going through the steps below.
Select the Settings icon in the upper right.
Select Emergency Contact.
Select Add Contact.
Choose the type of contact you want to enter.
Enter the number for the emergency contact (including area code).
What is the Other option for emergency contact?
The Other option is a custom screen where you can add the name of a person or organization and their phone number.
This can be useful if you have a second home on your account and don’t want to automatically call 911 for a home in one city if you are in currently somewhere else. Or you might want to put in the name and number of your spouse or neighbor.
How do I enter a custom emergency contact?
When you get to the emergency contact screen, select Other.
Select if you would like to choose an existing contact from your Address book or Create a new contact.
Type in the name of the contact.
Enter the number for the emergency contact. Tap Done.
