Who should use Pro Setup?

Pro Setup is only required if you are setting up a complex system. The vast majority of home systems compatible with the Nest Learning Thermostat do not require Pro Setup and are handled through normal setup and the Equipment setting menu.

Important Note: Incorrect settings in Pro Setup can cause your HVAC system to malfunction and may damage it, so Nest strongly advises that only trained installation professionals use Pro Setup. You can find a trained Nest Pro installer in your area with our online Pro finder.

How do I access Pro Setup?

Pro Setup can be accessed the first time you set up your Nest Learning Thermostat. When you set up your Nest Thermostat for the first time, you'll be asked if you're a professional installer. If you answer "PRO," you'll receive Pro Setup options. Pro Setup can also be accessed at any time after your Nest Thermostat is installed through the SETTINGS menu.

To enter Pro Setup on your Nest Learning Thermostat after the initial setup, follow these steps:

• Go to SETTINGS > EQUIPMENT > CONTINUE > CONTINUE > PRO SETUP
• Read the disclaimer, and if you are an installation professional, continue
• If you have a heat pump and backup heat, Pro Setup will ask if you have a dual fuel or single fuel system.
• From there, you can turn the ring to move between each of the wires connected to your Nest Thermostat. Click to select one. You can set and change the source type (e.g. Gas, Electric, Oil) and the delivery type (e.g. forced air, in-floor radiant). Once you validate your changes, the newly configured wire will be highlighted in green while the wires you haven't set yet remain in yellow.

Once you are done with the advanced configuration, click DONE > CONTINUE > DONE.

Nest Pro contact information

During installation, a Nest Pro will have the option to add their contact information to your thermostat.
